VIS swimmers enjoy the Gold Rush

Horton was not the only Victorian Institute of Sport swimmer to produce impressive results.  Adding onto Mack’s success in the pool, Ashleigh McConnell placed third in the S9 100m Backstroke and won the bronze medal.

Although not standing on the podium, Jessica Hansen, Emily Beecroft and Madeline Scott all made it to the finals in their respective events.

Hansen was among the highlights swimming incredibly well, but just missing bronze in the women’s 50m breaststroke by 0.05sec.

Hansen has an opportunity to swim for Gold tonight in the women’s 100m breaststroke final.

Scott (S9 100m Backstroke) and Beecroft (S9 100m Freestyle) also just missed out on a podium finish, both placing fourth in their races. Scott has a chance to do one better tonight qualifying third fastest in the women’s SB9 100m Breaststroke final.

Joining Scoot and Hansen on finals night of day five will be VIS scholarship holders Joshua Beaver who qualified for the men’s 200m backstroke and Matt Haanappel in the men’s S7 freestyle final.

Action commences tonight from 7.00PM.
