Barden receives late call-up

VIS athlete Laura Barden has been named as a last minute addition to Hockeyroos squad for the World League Semi-Finals in Brussels.

With injuries ruling out Mariah Williams and Gabi Nance, Barden was given the call up, joining fellow VIS athletes Georgia Nanscawen, Rachael Lynch and Madi Ratcliffe in the squad who departed for Europe on Sunday.

The World League Semi-Final is an important tournament for the Hockeyroos, acting as a qualifier for the World League Finals in New Zealand later this year, and the World Cup held in London in July 2018.

Last week Hockey Australia also announced the men’s and women’s National Development Squads for 2017, with seven VIS athletes named;

Women

Meg Pearce, Lily Brazel, Hayley Padget and Sam Snow

Men

Max Hendry, Josh Simmonds and Johan Durst
