Cooke and Tripp defend National Titles

Reigning world and Olympic champion Carol Cooke has defended her Australian road national titles, making a clean sweep of the medals in the Women’s T2 category at Australian Para-Cycling Road Nationals this weekend in Somers, Victoria.

VIS para-cyclist Cooke comfortably won both the time trial and road race events with more than 5 minutes between Cooke and the silver medallist.

Stuart Tripp also defended his National crowns, winning both the time trial and road race events in the Men’s Handcycle H5 category. Tripp’s title defending races saw him average a speedy 37 km/hour pace during both events.

VIS athlete, Hannah Macdougall, finished 2nd in both the Women’s C4 category time trial and road race events. The slimmest of margins separated Macdougall from gold medallist Meg Lemon in the road race, while in the time trial Lemon took the title again with only a 32.4 second margin separating the two.
