James named SSA Male Athlete of the Year

VIS athlete, Scotty James, won the male athlete of the year award at the Ski and Snowboard Australia Awards.

Snowboarder James enjoyed a successful campaign over the past season, claiming World Championships gold, as well as the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup crownThe 22-year-old successfully defended his halfpipe World Championships gold medal at the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada.He also clinched the superpipe gold medal at this year's X Games in Aspen.

VIS alpine skier, Mitch Gourley, was named Para-Snowsport Athlete of the Year for a second year in a row.

He replicated the achievements of compatriot James by winning the giant slalom title at the Para World Championships in Tarvisio in January and the World Cup title.

Aerial skier, Lydia Lassila, was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for her three World Cup victories this season after a two-season break and the birth of her second son.
