Smith on target in New Delhi

VIS shooter Penny Smith won gold in the Women’s Trap Final at the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi, India on Friday with a World Record result.

Smith beat London 2012 Olympic Champion Italian Jessica Rossi and Finland’s Mopsi Veromaa to take out the title.

The title is 22 year old Smith’s first World Cup title, in an experience she called fantastic and overwhelming.

”It felt amazing when I shot the last target and all I could I think about was I did it for Gran. It’s the happiest moment of my sporting career and my greatest achievement to date. Thanks to my personal coach Greg Chan and new Australian team coach Adam Vella." Smith said.

Fellow VIS athletes Laetisha Scanlan and Emma Cox finished 7th and 24th overall, respectively.
