National Madison Championships 2017

A huge crowd at Melbourne's Hisense Arena were treated to an exciting evening of racing at the 2017 Cycling Australia Madison National Championships on Saturday.

In the men's 200 lap Madison event, VIS athlete Kelland O'Brien teamed up with Callum Scotson (SA) to collect silver on 65 points, finishing behind two time Madison world champion Cameron Meyer (WA) and Rio Olympic silver medallist Sam Welsford (WA).

In the women’s sprint events, in-form VIS rider Courtney Field finished second behind Rio Olympian Stephanie Morton (SASI), with fellow VIS athlete Madison Janssen finishing in fourth. While in the women’s Keirin events, Janssen finished second behind Morton, while Field finished fifth.

In the women's Austral Wheelrace VIS young-gun Jemma Eastwood finished second behind Brooklyn Vonderwall from SA by a length and World junior champion and VIS athlete, Conor Rowley, finished third in the men's Keirin final.
