Field fires at Oceania Track Champs

Rising VIS track cyclists have produced stellar performances at the 2017 Oceania Track Championships at Melbourne's DISC Velodrome over the weekend.

World Cup bronze medallist Courtney Field and Rikki Belder (SASI) claimed the elite women's team sprint in 34.432secs, ahead of New Zealand in 35.364secs. In the women’s individual sprint event, Field finished a very respectable second behind three-time team sprint world champion Kaarle McCulloch (NSWIS).

Looking to the remainder of the season ahead, Field said "I am really setting my sights on Nationals, but I am really looking forward to the Austral because it's the biggest race I've been to aside from the World Cups this year."

VIS athlete, Kelland O'Brien, partnered with reigning National Champion, Callum Scotson (SASI), to take out the men’s Madison title. While Riley Hart claimed the men’s under 19 Omnium title on 118 points ahead of Corbin Strong of New Zealand (114) and Stephen Cuff of NSW (113) in a closely contested final points race.
