Robinson, Hall bolt to victory

VIS athletes Brett Robinson and Linden Hall won the men’s and women’s races respectively, in the Asics 5km Bolt at the Noosa Triathlon Festival over the weekend.

Riding a wave of good form since reaching the 5000m final in Rio, Robinson has now won three Bolt titles in a row.

“It’s always tough up here. Everyone blew up but it’s just whoever blows up the least,’’ Robinson said, after winning the race in 14 minutes and 17 seconds, two seconds ahead of Stewart McSewyn, and a further two seconds ahead of third placed James Nipperess.

“I’ve had three races in three weeks so it’s been a big three weeks and I’m running pretty well at the moment so I was ready,” he added.

Since returning from Rio, Robinson has also won the City to Bay event in Adelaide, the Melbourne half marathon and a 10km road race in Burnie, Tasmania.

Meanwhile, Linden Hall claimed victory in the women’s 5km Bolt road race, sprinting to the finish line ahead of 2015 champion Eloise Wellings.

Hall had finished third behind Wellings last year.

“It was nice to have a pack to run with. It made such a huge difference,’’ Hall said.

“I expected Eloise and Gen (LaCaze) to maybe go a little harder early on than they did so that really played into my favour.’’

Robinson and Hall are now both looking towards next year’s world titles in London, following the domestic Australian season.
