VIS athletes successful at the NSW Swimming Championships

Several VIS athletes travelled across the border to participate in the Swimming NSW State Open Championships last week.

The championships provided a great platform for swimmers to test their fitness against Australia’s best in the lead up to bigger competition later in the year.

Travis Mahoney was among the winners, taking out the men’s 400m individual medley and placing third in the 200m individual medley.

Mack Horton finished second in the 400m freestyle, and was also a member of the second placed 4x200m freestyle relay team.

Joshua Beaver placed second, just ahead of fellow VIS athlete, Ashley Delaney in the final of the 200m backstroke.

Delaney also came third in the 50m backstroke while Beaver grabbed third spot in the 100m backstroke.

Belinda Hocking came third in the 200m backstroke, and was a member of the winning 400m medley relay team.

Tim Disken placed second in the 200m multi-class individual medley.

Jeremy Tidy won the 50m multi-class butterfly event and placed third in the 200m multi-class individual medley.
