Achievements

Antonie was a lightweight who rewrote history as a man who could take on and beat the world’s best open-weight rowers. In doing so, he inspired thousands that, with determination, it was possible to do anything.

Thomas Keller Medal recipient for an outstanding international rowing career awarded by the International Rowing Federation (2003)

Gold medallist (1986), 2x Silver medallist (1977 & 1978) and bronze medallist (1978) at a World Rowing Championships

Gold medal in the lightweight single sculls at the 1986 Commonwealth Games

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) recipient in 1987

Became Australia’s first Olympic Gold medallist (1992) in 44 years

Only rower to have won all three major national titles - the Kings Cup for eights, the President's Cup for single sculls and the Penrith Cup for lightweight fours
