Real Deal Peel

Monday, 18 February 2019

After narrowly missing out on a podium finish at the recent FIS World Championships Aerials in Utah, Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Laura Peel, overcame the disappointment to finish with a silver medal at the World Cup in Moscow, Russia.

The VIS scholarship holder improved her previous score from last week’s World Championships in Utah by nearly 10.00 points and as a result found herself on the podium.

Peel cruised through the qualifying round and first final on top of the leader board but was pipped of the gold medal at the very end of the day when Belarus’ Aliaksandra Ramaanouskaya landed her final jump in a score of 105.93.

Although having been on top all day, Peel had just three words to describe her silver medal.

“Happy. Proud. Grateful.”

After the second World Cup of the season, Peel currently sits in fourth place in the Ladies’ Aerials discipline standings. Three events remain for the 2018/19 season, with the next competition to be held on 23rd February in Minsk, Belarus.
