Micheluzzi continues to shine

Monday, 11 February 2019

In the Victorian Open last week VIS athlete David Micheluzzi, from a field of 156 (150 professionals) golfers from the European and Australasian tours, made both the top 65 cut after round 2 and top 35 cut after round 3 to finish 30th, just missing out on claiming leading amateur honours.

Micheluzzi, currently the World No. 5, began the week with rounds of 67 and 68. At one stage he was well inside the top 10 on the standings but couldn’t reproduce that form on the weekend on his way to scores of 74 and 73.

In the lead up to the week, three VIS staff members (Ashley Gillespie, Andrew Nolen and Peter Kyffin) were teamed up with VIS golfer Ben Eccles at the Victorian Open Pro Am.

With Eccles putting the team in a great position off the tee, the trio of staff members just needed to finish off what he started and get the ball in the hole.

They did not disappoint, on several occasions the VIS communications & marketing coordinator, Ashley Gillespie, managed several birdies to help the team to third position at the conclusion of the day.

Whilst the VIS senior performance coordinator, Andrew Nolen, struggled off the tee he didn’t let this impact his “short” game, hitting them in on the green from long and close range
