Have you ever thought about how to best fuel your body for training?

If you’re trying to kick some goals, run fast, throw accurately or lift more, consider if you are giving your body the fuel it needs to give it your best? Our body needs fuel like a car. If you’re running low on petrol it’s very hard to get to your destination. 

Our body works the same way with glycogen as the petrol (stored energy) in our muscles. Carbohydrates are our body’s preferred source of energy for high intensity exercise. Without enough, fatigue and sub-optimal performance are likely.

Next time you’re fuelling for performance, try a carbohydrate snack or meal 90 minutes before you start to give your body the best chance to score those goals, run faster than ever before or lift more.
