Moloney makes much anticipated return

Monday, 08 October 2018

The Samsung Australia Diamonds have continued their impressive form over the New Zealand Silver Ferns with a 57-42 win in the opening game of the Constellation Cup at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday.

New Vixens/VIS recruit, Caitlin Thwaites, was a standout scoring 21 from 21 and recording a shooting percentage of 100%.

When Melbourne Vixens captain and VIS scholarship holder Kate Moloney ran out onto the court for her return appearance, she wasted no time by forcing a turnover from the Silver Ferns in the opening minute.

However, player of the match honours went to fellow Victorian Institute of Sport scholarship holder Liz Watson, turning in another brilliant performance at centre and wing attack.

New Zealand came home strong, but Jo Weston was a lock in defence and ensured a comeback was not on the cards.
