VIS’ Milly Tapper won bronze at the 2018 Para Table Tennis World Championships in Slovenia on the weekend after cruising through the group stages undefeated.
Tapper cruised through her T10 classification group stages without dropping a game, defeating Romania’s Ioanan-Monica Tepelea 3-0 and Japan’s Yasuko Kudo 3-0.
Tapper won her way to the semi-final without dropping a set after she defeated Merve Demir in the quarter final.
However, her Championship unravelled when she came up against reigning World Champion and eventual Championship victor Natalia Partyka and was defeated 3-1 (12-10, 14-16, 11-9, 11-3). The defeat was bitter-sweet, as she still found herself on the podium with the bronze medal around her neck.
It was nothing but excitement for Tapper as she took her thanks to social media.
“2018 World Championships are over and can’t be more pleased!” She captioned. “Thank you, Victorian Institute of Sport, for helping me achieve the right sport and life balance.”
