Hockeyroos into Women's World Cup quarter-finals

Monday, 30 July 2018

The Hockeyroos have secured a place in the 2018 Women’s World Cup quarter-finals after a 1-1 draw against New Zealand in London on Sunday.

VIS Goalkeeper, Rachael Lynch was instrumental throughout the match making numerous saves from an attacking New Zealand outfit.

Fellow VIS scholarship holder, Emily Hurtz, put enormous pressure on the New Zealand goalkeeper, but wasn’t able to convert on the scoreboard.

The Hockeyroos will play the winner of Argentina-New Zealand’s playoff from 5:15am Thursday.

In other hockey news, congratulations to the following VIS scholarship holders who have gained Australian Burras selection for the National Development Squad and upcoming tournament in October:

2018 National Junior Men’s Squad: Jonathon Bretherton, Nathan Ephraums, Daniel McBride, Damon Steffens

Johor Cup Team: Nathan Ephraums, Daniel McBride, and Damon Steffens
