Gold and Silver for Cooke

Monday, 09 July 2018

A sprint to the finish line in the Road Race cost VIS’ Carol Cooke her second gold medal at the second World Cup in Emmen, Netherlands.

Cooke cruised through the Women’s T2 Time Trial winning by a margin of 35 seconds.

However, her Road Race didn’t quite follow suite forced into a sprint to the finish line against USA’s Jill Walsh, separated by a photo finish which went in the way of Walsh.

Whilst both Cooke and Walsh are on the same points for the series, Walsh currently leads due to her victory in the Road Race.

Cooke admits that whilst not unhappy about her Gold and Silver medals, she still has a lot to work on.

“I have always believed that you have to find a positive in everything you attempt, but you also have to look at what you can work on…there is never a perfect race.” Cooke said.

“I did mess up a few corners so I’ll be spending some time working on those.”

Cooke will now look to the World Championships which is set to begin August 2-5 in Maniago, Italy.
