Four VIS athletes named in Hockey Commonwealth Games teams

Sunday, 18 March 2018

Commonwealth Games Australia have finalised their 473 strong team for Gold Coast 2018, rounding out with the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras team selection consisting of four VIS representatives.

The Victorian Institute of Sport will be represented by Rachael Lynch, Emily Hurtz and Madi Ratcliffe in the Hockeyroos, while Aaron Kleinschmidt will wear the green and gold for the Kookaburras.

Australia has enjoyed great Commonwealth Games success since hockey was introduced in 1998, winning nine of the 10 gold medals on offer.

The Hockeyroos will go into Gold Coast 2018 in form with recent back-to-back series victories over Spain and China earlier this year, having also won the Oceania Cup last year.

Australia’s pursuit of gold will begin on 5 April when the Hockeyroos take on Canada.
