Monday, 09 May 2016

VIS athletes Lachlan Edwards and James Stanton-French have been named in the Australian Men’s Water Polo squad, the Sharks, for the World League Intercontinental Tournament in Japan that will take place from 10-15 May.

Teams from Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Kazakhstan and USA will take part, with the top four teams going through to the World League Super Final to be held in Huizhou, China in June.

With Australia set to play both Brazil and Japan in the preliminary rounds in Rio, the Tournament will form an important part of the squad’s preparation for the Olympic Games.

The Sharks have spent the last week in Japan for a training camp and test match against the Japanese side, where they won 7-6.

The squad will head to the USA after the World League Tournament for a training camp and test match series against the home side.
