Sport Climbing

Athletes with an individual scholarship, compete in sports which do not have a Tier 1 sports program with the VIS.

AIS athlete categorisation identifies athletes who are eligible for individual scholarships.

From 2017, the following criteria apply:​​​

Foundation Sports – Podium/Podium Ready/Podium Potential, Other Sports – Podium only.

Successful VIS athletes with an Individual Scholarship come from sports such as badminton, boxing, skateboarding, snowboarding, table tennis, and many more.

Proud is an understatement -Victorian Institute of Sport’s Oceana Mackenzie made history at the first Bouldering World Cup in Switzerland last weekend becoming the first ever Australian female to make the final of a Sport Climbing World Cup.
