Workshops
Sport Education Victoria offers a variety of sport specific workshops for Victorian State Sporting Associations and Victorian based National Sporting Organisations. All workshops can be tailor made to the needs of the sport and the audience level.
Assessor Training Workshop
Sport Education Victoria assists State and National Sporting Organisations to support and educate their assessors through the development and delivery of sports specific workshops. This training can be partially or fully recognised as a Certificate IV assessment and workplace training qualification with our partner Registered Training Organisation.
Having properly trained and supported assessors is a critical part of quality coach and official education, and Sport Education Victoria is also available to advise on assessor and mentoring pathways.
For further information on this course please contact Sport Education Victoria.
Mentoring Workshops
Sport Education Victoria supports the State Sporting Associations in the development and implementation of their mentoring programs for coaches, officials and administrators. Mentoring assessor training workshops are conducted as part of this support.
This workshop enables coaches/officials, to develop the skills they need to mentor another person and help them develop or change their coaching/officiating methods for the better. Mentoring has always existed in sport. However, this workshop provides sports with an opportunity to implement a more structured, formal process for coaches/officials to spend time with a mentor.
Many benefits can be reaped from these workshops, for organisation, mentor and coach/official. If you would like further information on organising a mentoring workshop, please contact Sport Education Victoria.

Thanks Coach & Thanks Official Awards

Sport Education Victoria supports State Sporting Associations to recruit, recognise and retain quality coaches and officials. As part of the Thanks Coach and Thanks Official Campaign, Sport Education Victoria has developed the Sport Education Victoria Thanks Coach and Official Awards to acknowledge the vital contribution Coaches and Officials make for their sport.
Sport Education Victoria provides (FREE of charge) a trophy and night out for two people at Brunetti Restaurant (194-204 Faraday Street, Carlton) to the selected recipients of the Thanks Coach and Official Awards. Sport Education Victoria will supply the State Sporting Association with the Trophy, the voucher for the dinner for two and an electronic version of the Sport Education Victoria logo for the purpose of advertising the award.

Brunetti Restaurant offers an a la carte menu with a variety of authentic italian regional meals cooked by experienced Italian chefs for lunch and dinner. Two vouchers are available for each State Sporting Association (i.e. one for a coach and one for an official). Additional vouchers may be purchased through Sport Education Victoria if required.

All the SSA has to do is:
- Develop criteria for each award and publicise - referring to the award as the Sport Education Victoria Thanks Coach and/or Official Award.
- Advise Sport Education Victoria of the award criteria.
- Select the appropriate recipients and advise Sport Education Victoria of their details.
- Present the award(s) at the State Sporting Association’s annual presentation night (or equivalent) - The award must be presented by December 2005.
- Provide Sport Education Victoria with the details of any advertisements of the award.
For further information on the Thanks Coach & Thanks Officials Awards, please contact Sport Education Victoria.
Reference Groups
Sport Education Reference Groups have been formed through a number of the Regional Sports Assemblies to better advise and drive the type and number of courses delivered at a local level. These local groups ensure that the sport education needs of the local sporting community are being met, as well as providing an avenue for State Sporting Associations to sort out any officiating issues that may arise at the regional level. |
