VIS AT THE PARALYMPIC GAMES
In four Paralympic Games since 1992, the VIS has crowned 22 gold medallists. Between them the Paralympic Champions have won 39 gold medals.
In total, VIS athletes have won 95 medals at Paralympic Games - 17 in Barcelona (1992), 10 in Atlanta (1996), 39 in Sydney (2000) and 29 in Athens (2004).
Sprinter Tim Sullivan has been the most decorated elite athlete with a disability at the VIS, winning a combined nine gold medals at the Sydney and Athens Games. Other multiple gold medal winners since 1992 include Anne Currie, Greg Smith, Lisa McIntosh, John Lindsay, Peter Homann, Tim Mathews (three each), and Jodi Willis Roberts, Kieran Ault-Connell and Russell Short (two each).
VIS athletes won 10 gold medals at the most recent Paralympics in Athens in 2004, including four to Sullivan in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 4x100m relay.
