Kookaburras set sights on Champions Trophy
27 July 2010
The Kookaburras look to be on target to defend their Champions Trophy crown following impressive two-from-two victories in friendly matches against Belgium. VIS hockey players, George Bazeley, Luke Doerner, Russell Ford and Chris Ciriello were amongst the action in the convincing victories.
The Kookaburras defeated Belgium 7 -2 in their first game, only to back that up with another 10 – 3 victory two days later. The two matches were perfect preparation for the Kookaburras who are looking to win their third consecutive Champions Trophy crown.
Kookaburras Head Coach, Ric Charlesworth, selected a relatively young squad to contest the Champions Trophy but despite this, the Kookaburras proved their player depth in their first friendlies of the tour.
The Kookaburras have spent the last week training in Belgium ahead of the Champions Trophy in Germany on 31 July.
