King of the surfing world

Monday, 14 May 2018

The competition hosted 16 of the world’s best junior surfers, taking on some of Manu Bay’s powerful four-to-six foot conditions and showing the world what’s to come in the future of the sport.

Huxtable cruised to victory defeating fellow Aussie, Finn Hill, by 2.5 points in the final making him one of the first VIS male surfers to dominate an International Junior event.

Huxtable couldn’t feel happier.

“I feel so good right now. It means so much to me to win this event against such talented surfers from all over the world,” he said.

Highly rated American surfer, Cole Houshmand, was one of Huxtable’s scalps for the day, putting the heat on with two massive scores in the semi-finals.

By the end of the round he had the only 10-point ride and backed it up with a 9.25, making for a near-perfect heat score of 19.25.
