Skinner claims Silver at World Cup
Tuesday, 13 March 2018
Victorian Institute of Sport trap shooter, Catherine Skinner has taken silver at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara Mexico.
Skinner put up a good battle after getting off to a rough start, bringing home silver with 44 hits out of 50, four shy of America’s Ashley Carroll.
The World number one was pleased with her silver medal.
“I’m happy with the result, I started rough but I was able to recover. The bigger event has changed the dynamic, giving you a chance to recover from a bad round.” She said.
This is the fourth World Cup medal for the 28-year-old VIS scholarship holder.
The result is bound to give Skinner some confidence leading into her Commonwealth Games campaign on the Gold Coast in April, where she will be looking to add to her Olympic Gold Medal.
Shooting will begin on 11 April at Gold Coast 2018.
