Kathryn Mitchell has again rewritten the Australian Women’s Javelin record, improving her mark to 68.57m at the Victorian Track & Field Championships to win the State title on Saturday.
Mitchell’s performance is the furthest throw in the world since September 2013 and is now ranked seventh on the all-time world rankings.
Leading into Gold Coast 2018 in career best form, the 35-year-old will look to improve on her previous Commonwealth Games performances having placed sixth in Melbourne, fifth in Delhi and fourth in Glasgow.
In other VIS results, Georgia Griffith (800m), Todd Hodgetts (Open & Ambulant Shot Put), Nicholas Hum (Ambulant Long Jump) and Brooke Stratton (Long Jump) claimed Victorian Championships.
