Commonwealth Games Australia have confirmed the selection of VIS athletes Milly Tapper and Jian Fang Lay to represent Australia in Table Tennis at Gold Coast 2018.
Tapper has rewritten history in recent years by being the first Australian athlete to compete at the Olympics and Paralympics, whilst claiming a bronze medal at Glasgow 2014.
“I was lucky enough to be able to compete for Australia at the Rio Olympics and Paralympics in both the able-bodied and para competitions and I’m going to be doing it again on the Gold Coast in April,” Tapper said.
Jian Fang Lay is Australia’s number one ranked female athlete and is set to compete at her fifth Commonwealth Games.
Lay has seven Commonwealth Games medals in her trophy cabinet and is excited to once again represent her country.
“I’ve been to a few games now and by far and away the best experience was representing Australia on home soil in Melbourne in 2006 and I’m just so grateful that I get to do that again in a few months,” Lay said.
Table Tennis will begin on 5 April at Gold Coast 2018.
