Anabelle Smith has finished fourth in the women’s synchro springboard at the FINA Diving Grand Prix on Saturday.
The VIS scholarship holder with diving partner Maddison Keeney looked to be in hot contention for the gold medal, alongside fellow Australian duo Esther Qin and Georgia Sheehan.
However, an unfortunate slip for Smith on her final dive led to a no-dive being posted, relegating the pair to fourth position. Fortunately, Smith appeared to be unharmed, laughing off the incident with teammates.
Americans Krysta Palmer and Maria Coburn took the gold medal, finishing with 261.00 points.
The Gold Coast event was the final round of the nine meet Grand Prix circuit that saw divers compete around the globe from February to November.
