Roseman-Gannon sprints to another win

Sunday, 22 October 2017

Ruby Roseman-Gannon has added another 2017 road victory to her cap, following a win in the Stage 4 criterium in the Tour of Gippsland yesterday.

The VIS scholarship holder claimed her first stage win of the National Road Series, defeating fellow teenagers, Sarah Gigante and Anya Louw, in a time of 1h 15:21.

Post-race, the young VIS scholarship holder said that she saw Louw make a break, pushing Gigante and herself to make chase:

“I got the direction to work easy and not cook myself, and the main bunch wasn’t moving too fast so we gained a lot of time without much effort,” she said.

“With five laps to go, we just sat in and was hoping to win the sprint as I backed myself against the younger girls and was happy to pull it off.”

Completing the weekend for the young VIS athlete, her team, the High5 Dream Team, also won the overall Team Classification, placing them comfortably on top of the NRS Team Classification leader board.

Closer to home, Isaac Buckell took out the JR19 Male Racing Road Race at the Victorian Schools Cycling Competition Road State Finals in Bendigo over the weekend.

In good conditions, the VIS scholarship holder defeated Dylan McKenna and Nicholas Simpson to take home the victory.
