Wilson hits the mark

Saturday, 16 September 2017

Jack Wilson has come from behind to take the win at the 61st Border Open last week, Australia’s longest running two-day Pro-Am.

Despite starting four shots behind Day 1 leaders Aaron Cox and Andrew Schoneville, VIS scholarship holder, Jack Wilson, managed to finish the second day 9-under par, an equal best round result for the Victorian golfer.

The 14-under par result was just enough for Wilson to clinch the tournament title, with favourites Ashley Hall and Aaron Cox tied for second place on 11-under par.

Post-tournament, Wilson told PGA Australia that he was glad to be playing back near his hometown of Echuca, following a disappointing ISPS HANDA Tour of Australasia.

“We’ve just come off a month on Tour and it wasn’t great. I was probably disappointed with my results then you get to come here and play golf courses that are as fantastic as these,” Wilson said.

“It’s great to come up here and support these events. If I’m in Australia I’ll continue to come up because this is one of the best golf courses we get to play,” he said.
