The VIS Award of Excellence is an awards night that is attended by athletes, coaches, sporting administrators, media representatives and politicians. A number of awards are presented to VIS athletes, including the prestigious VIS Award of Excellence.
The VIS Award of Excellence was first presented to Robert Allenby in 1991. Previous recipients also include Cathy Freeman, Steve Moneghetti, Sarah Fitz-Gerald and Aaron Baddeley. A full list of winners can be found at VIS Award of Excellence Winners.
Network Ten Youth Award
This award is presented to the young athlete who has achieved outstanding sporting results during the year.
Spirit Award
This award is presented to the athlete who most embraces the ‘spirit of the VIS’ by demonstrating courage, commitment and persistence to achieve their sporting goals, whilst being supportive of others and open to new ideas.
William Angliss ACE Award
This award is presented to the athlete who has achieved success in their studies, career ambitions or work setting, while balancing their sporting pursuits. This award recognises Success in Sport and Life.
Athlete with a Disability Award
This award is presented to the athlete with a disability who has achieved outstanding sporting results during the year.
Community Award
This award is presented to the athlete who has achieved highly in their sport, while also making a significant contribution to sport and the community.
VIS Award of Excellence
The pinnacle of VIS awards, the VIS Award of Excellence is presented to the athlete who has achieved outstanding sporting results during the year, while adopting a balanced approach to sporting excellence and contributing to the promotion and development of their sport.
