Phoenix defeats Kestrels in local derby
Melbourne First National Phoenix defeated Allied Pickfords Melbourne Kestrels, 67-43, at the State Netball and Hockey Centre on Friday night.
Cynna Kidd scored 35 goals against her former side, while Sharelle McMahon shot 32 goals from 34 attempts. Caitlin Thwaites scored 31 goals for the Kestrels, with support from Bianca Franklin with 10 goals and Andrea Booth with two goals.
Meanwhile, Sharelle McMahon and Bianca Chatfield have been named in the Australian squad for the two-test series against New Zealand next month. McMahon will co-captain the team with Sydney Swifts defender, Liz Ellis.
