The VIS has responsibilities with regard to an Anti Doping Policy under The Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority (ASADA), previously ASDA.
We have recently gone through a process of updating and amending our policy to comply with changes to the Federal Legislation which amongst other things resulted in the formation of ASADA, an organisation with the responsibility for the deterrence, detection and enforcement of doping in Australian sport.
Accordingly, we have now had our updated policy approved by ASADA and adopted by the VIS Board.
For your information, the main changes to the Policy are:
- recognition of ASADA and its role
- inclusion of the National Anti Doping (NAD) scheme established under the Act
- notes that the VIS is defined as a Sporting Administration Body (SAB’s) and therefore is responsible under the Act
The new VIS policy came into effect on March 13th 2007.
In addition to enabling access to the policy through various means we will also conduct workshops, briefings and provide regular updates in “The Pinnacle” to assist you. It is the responsibility of all athletes, coaches, staff and service providers to be familiar with the policy and their responsibilities under it.
