The Victorian Institute of Sport has developed a Talent Transfer Program that is set up to work in partnership with our current Tier 1 sporting programs to help increase the number of VIS athletes performing and achieving success on the world stage. Our aim is to use innovative and proactive methods to fast track more VIS athletes to specialist development programs aimed at achieving success in Olympic and Paralympic competition.
If you are in the process of considering your future in your current sport or looking for a new challenge then why not consider Talent Transfer? We are seeking expressions of interest from past VIS Scholarship holders or elite performers within their chosen sport to come and undertake some testing and assessment of a different sport. Your years of dedicated training and competition experience are highly valued and we believe that there may be a possibility of you successfully competing in another sport.
Perhaps you may have potential for a sport you have never tried before or you feel you have what it takes but have never had an opportunity in high performance sport. Perhaps you have had to give up one sport but have skills that can be transferred into something else. There are lots of examples of how this can work.
Talent Transfer won’t suit every athlete. Although it is not essential, training and competition at an elite level will be an advantage. As will the following attributes;

The Future Talent program is designed to identify talented athletes who show outstanding potential for future success but who are not yet eligible for a full VIS scholarship due to their age or selection criteria restrictions; once identified, they are provided with VIS support services to “fast track” their development.
The Future Talent program services young athletes deemed to have medal winning potential at future Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games. The athletes are given access to the comprehensive range of athlete support services, including sports medicine, physical preparation, nutrition, sport psychology, as well as extensive career and education support for their needs outside of sport. The program also incorporates the latest sport science research and protocols. Each athlete is accountable to Simon Blundell (Talent Transfer Coordinator) and keeps the VIS updated by completing monthly progress reports.
