Diamonds continue to shine

The Australian Diamonds will go into the final game of the 2012 Quad-Series against the Silver Ferns undefeated after beating England 57-35 at TECT Arena in Tauranga, New Zealand, on Sunday.

The English couldn't match Australia for pace, power and precision, trailing at each quarter as the Diamonds through-court pressure resulted in a steady supply of possession.

England battled to break through Australia's well-organised back three, with goal keeper and VIS athlete Bianca Chatfield particularly impressive.

Wing attack Madison Browne worked her magic around the circle edge for 12 goal assists in the first half alone. The VIS scholarship holder’s work rate through the midcourt and around the edge of the circle was recognised with the most valuable player (MVP) award.

In other netball news, new VIS head coach Simone McKinnis has welcomed Sharelle McMahon’s return to the Vixens.

The former Australian captain McMahon had the year off in 2012 to have her first child, and will return to the trans-Tasman competition in 2013 after signing a one year contract with the Vixens.
