VIS short track speed skating athletes Lachlan Hay and Deanna Lockett have put in dominant performances at the National Championships held at the Canterbury ice rink in Sydney.
Lockett won three of a possible four events following outstanding performances in the 1000, 1500 and 3000 metre distances giving the VIS scholarship holder the overall women’s title for the championships.
In the men’s event, Lachlan Hay took out the overall title after winning the 1500 and 3000 metre distances.
The relay team, featuring VIS athletes Lachlan Hay and Armstrong Lazenby, along with Pierre Boda and Ronald Caldecutt put in a strong performance to comfortably win the event by two laps.
The event served as a great lead in to the opening World Cup event of the season, which takes place in Calgary, Canada, from 19 to 21 October.
