Victoria's Sports Industry Elite Gather at the VIS

Sport and Recreation Minister Hugh Delahunty has rubbed shoulders with leading athletes and sporting industry administrators as the wraps came off the stunning new VIS headquarters in Albert Park.

Nearly 200 people gathered on the sprung floor of the new facility, which had been converted into a function centre, to hear the Minister officially open the building.

Some of the guests, such as Victorian Olympic Council President Nick Green and Australian Commonwealth Games Association President Sam Coffa, have links to the VIS which stretch back many years.

Also in attendance were Bruce Mildenhall and Simon Weatherill from the State Sports Centre trust which oversees this latest jewel in the Victorian sporting crown.

They were justifiably proud of the spectacular three storey facility which is nestled inside the historic  1926  South Melbourne Swans grandstand and overlooks the  new home of Victorian athletics.

Stars including Matt Targett, Jana Pittman, Sophie Edington and paralympian Jess Gallghaer mingled with the crowd while Delhi bronze medallist Dale Stevenson interviewed the guests for VIS TV.
