VIS shooter Natalie Smith won Australia's first medal of the London Paralympics, taking bronze in the women's R2-10m air rifle standing SH1 class.
The 37-year-old Smith shot a total of 492.4 points to claim the bronze behind China's Cuiping Zhang, who won gold with 500.9 points at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
Smith acquired paraplegia in a hiking accident three years ago, only began shooting in 2010 and quickly garnered the attention of national selectors.
Now, she will forever be her country's first medallist at the London Paralympics.
