Australia's women's double sculls crew of VIS rower Kim Crow and crew mate Brooke Pratley have won the silver medal in the Olympic rowing regatta at Eton Dorney.
Great Britain's Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins won gold by a length and a half while Poland was third.
VIS scholarship holder Crow and Pratley showed they were unafraid to pressure the fancied British double scull winners, with a fast start. While the British soon took the lead, the Australians were only 1.4 seconds down at halfway, and while dropping off slightly in the third 500m, finished strongly to be just over a boat length behind the Brits.
Tonight Crow will line up as one of the favourites to win Australia's first gold in the single scull - her sixth race in eight days at the Olympic regatta.
