GALLAGHER THE GREAT!

It was a successful outing on the track for VIS cyclist Michael Gallagher, who claimed gold in the men’s C5 4km individual pursuit.

Gallagher, who has erbs palsy/nerve damage in his right shoulder, fell behind to Great Britain's war veteran Jon-Allan Butterworth, by more than a second and a half early on, but had pinned his opponent back by the 3000m mark, before pulling away to win by more than four seconds.

Gallagher’s stunning come-from-behind victory left the partisan crowd flabbergasted. Yet, despite the majority of the fans cheering for his opponent, Gallagher said he was delighted to have raced in front of such fervent supporters.
