VIS young-gun Georgia Nanscawen has been selected in the Hockeyroos Team for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Nanscawen is the sole Victorian selected into the Australian National Team with Stacia Joseph, Rachael Lynch, Claire Messent and Ashlee Wells unlucky to miss out.
At the tender age of 20, Georgia is a veteran of the Australian hockey team; she made her senior debut for the Hockeyroos one day after her 17th birthday to become the third youngest Hockeyroo of all time.
This year Nanscawen has been a stand out performer and she hopes to carry that form into the Olympic Games.
The Hockeyroos finished fifth at the Games in 2004 and 2008, and the new-look squad with an average age of 25 aims to make amends in London.
The VIS would like to congratulate Georgia and wish her the best of luck in her quest for Olympic gold in London.
In other hockey news, the Kookaburras outclassed the New Zealand Blacksticks at the Cairns Hockey Association in Queensland. The Kookaburras convincingly won 6-1 and 5-1 in the opening two matches of the three game test series.
The Kookaburras, under the guidance of master coach Ric Charlesworth, are hot favourites to take home the gold in London.
