The Australian men's wheelchair rugby team, the Steelers, have sounded an ominous warning to their competitors ahead of the 2012 Paralympic Games with a resonating win against hosts Great Britain in the final of the London International Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, 71-48.
The Steelers, led by VIS athletes Greg Smith, Nazin Erdem, Andrew Harrison, Josh Hose and Jason Lees, dominated the hosts to claim the tournament; Head Coach Brad Dubberley said: ‘To win by 23 goals is a fantastic achievement.’
The Australian team had previously beaten Canada and Sweden in the tournament, and will now hold an important psychological advantage leading into the Paralympic Games after tasting success in the London arena.
